Yes, family is the most important thing, but when it comes to the things we eat, George Michael, you have a point.
Breakfast being the first meal of the day, and usually the first meal since dinner (15 hours ago!), should be very nutritious and filling enough to last us until lunch. Here’s our advice:
First tip, don’t skip breakfast!
Second tip, don’t eat donuts for breakfast.
Our main goal for this blog is to not only save you time and money but also start developing good eating habits. One of those habits is eating a nutritional breakfast everyday.
Our typical breakfast usually includes one or two of the following:
- Cereal (whole grain cereal, not the sugary crap)
- Banana, Apple or your favorite fruit
- English muffin
- All of these are simple to make. The oatmeal takes 2 minutes to cook in the microwave. We don’t buy the individual packets of oatmeal but rather the big tub of it for $3. That’s a month’s worth of breakfasts for $3. You can add in a little cinnamon, brown sugar, and raisins to improve the taste.
Bananas are extremely filling since they are made up of mostly starch, and starch sticks to you. They are also filled with good carbs and sugars to provide you with a proper kickstart to the day (who needs 5 hour energy drinks?).
If you eat a bowl of oatmeal and a banana everyday for breakfast, not only will you begin to feel better, but you’ll be spending arond $0.25/breakfast. So please don’t skip breakfast and don’t eat donuts either.
